At the tip of Sundmolen in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn, BIG’s new headquarters brings together industrial heritage, sustainability, and innovation. Spanning 4,488 m², the building bridges past and future—constructed with CO₂-reduced FutureCem concrete and designed to achieve DGNB Gold certification with integrated solar and geothermal energy systems, as well as natural ventilation.

BIG HQ is one of the first examples of BIG’s fully integrated LEAP design, where landscape, engineering, architecture, and product design come together as one. Every detail—from door handles to the concrete structure—has been carefully crafted with the same vision and precision.
The building plays with conventional forms and functions: A 140-meter-long outdoor staircase wraps around the façade, connecting all floors, while a Piranesi-inspired central staircase opens up diagonal views through the building, creating a dynamic interplay of light, materials, and space.
Surrounding the building, BIG Landscape has designed a 1,500 m² public park that brings Denmark’s coastal nature back to the harbor. Stones, trees, and soft forest floors create spaces for play and relaxation, while the Stone 40 sculpture invites visitors to explore and engage with their surroundings.
Dinesen adds warmth and texture with Douglas flooring and custom-built storage that spans multiple levels, balancing the raw concrete surfaces and creating a calming contrast. BIG HQ is more than an office—it is a living experiment in how architecture, nature, and people can merge in new and inspiring ways.
