Studio Zung, which undertook the renovation of Maison Ferndale, is inspired by a holistic lifestyle and sensorial, mindful design. In the project to renovate Ulla Johnson’s family beach house, founder Tommy Zung saw an opportunity to combine European and American living styles. The revitalisation of the home was guided by the specific context, including both the lifestyle and needs of the family of five and the location and surrounding landscape.
Dinesen Ash plays a central role in the new design of the beach home. Aesthetically, it brings light and life to the interior; functionally, it is hardwearing and will last for generations.
In addition to the visual transformation of the house, Studio Zung’s design activates and speaks to the senses with warm touches and natural beauty, with the new floors and the redesigned staircase in Dinesen Ash as core elements. The custom-designed, built-in seating in Ash is another carefully designed functional solution, providing a space to rest, recharge and take in the views of Montauk’s breathtaking nature by the Atlantic Ocean.
